Etsy Offsite Ads fees for UK sellers

Last checked 9 Oct 2026. Items marked date-sensitive can change; follow the source links before relying on them.

What an Offsite Ads sale costs a UK shop, in pounds, with VAT on the fee included. It also covers the 15% vs 12% rule, when the $100 cap applies, and a way to decide whether to opt out.

See the effect on your own order: tick "Sale came from Offsite Ads" in the Etsy UK fee calculator, or price so an ad sale still makes your target in the pricing calculator.

The rules, from Etsy's Help page date-sensitive

Can you opt out?Yes: Shop Manager → Settings → Offsite Ads → Opt outNo. Required "for the lifetime of your shop"
CapNever more than $100 USD per order
When is a sale attributed?A buyer clicks an Offsite Ad and buys from your shop within 30 days. One click can lead to several attributed orders. If their last click was an Etsy Ad, only the Etsy Ads fee applies.

Source: Etsy Help: How Etsy's Offsite Ads work, read on 9 Oct 2026. Etsy converts non-USD shops' sales to USD at the rate it used when each sale was processed. The fee is charged "on the amount you made from your sale before the advertising fee was applied". UK sellers also pay 20% VAT on it unless Etsy has their VAT ID (Etsy Help: VAT on seller fees).

What an Offsite Ads sale costs you

UK seller, not VAT-registered, one listing fee, physical item. "You receive" is before your own costs.

Order (item + postage)Normal sale: Etsy feesYou receiveOffsite Ads at 15%: feesYou receiveAt 12%: feesYou receive
£12 + £3.00 = £15.00£2.40£12.60£5.10£9.90£4.56£10.44
£25 + £3.50 = £28.50£4.18£24.32£9.31£19.19£8.28£20.22
£45 + £4.50 = £49.50£6.94£42.56£15.85£33.65£14.07£35.43
£90 + free postage = £90.00£12.28£77.72£28.48£61.52£25.24£64.76

With VAT on fees, an Offsite Ads sale costs about 18 percentage points more of the order at 15% (15% × 1.2), or about 14.4 points at 12%. On the £28.50 order, that's £5.13 more than a normal sale.

When does the $100 cap matter?

Only on big orders. At 15%, the fee reaches $100 USD on an order of about $667 USD. At 12%, about $833 USD. What that is in pounds depends on the exchange rate on the day, so check a current rate. Below those amounts, the cap does nothing.

Should you opt out? A way to decide

This is a business choice. Etsy's page doesn't say how many extra sales the ads bring, so this page won't guess. What you can work out is the cost side:

  1. Find your margin on an ad sale. In the fee calculator, enter a typical order and your costs, then tick Offsite Ads. If profit goes negative, every attributed sale loses money.
  2. Check your Offsite Ads dashboard (Shop Manager → Marketing → Offsite Ads) to see how many orders were attributed and what you paid.
  3. Check your statement. The Etsy statement CSV summary shows Offsite Ads fees as their own line, per month, next to your other fees.
  4. If ad sales are profitable at your prices, staying in is a cost of extra sales. If they aren't, raise prices (the pricing calculator can price so an ad sale still hits your margin) or opt out while you're under the threshold.

Some third-party sites and seller posts say UK sellers above the $10,000 threshold can ask Etsy Support to opt out. Etsy's own Help page (read 9 Oct 2026) says participation is required above the threshold, and this page goes by that.

FAQ

How much is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee in the UK?

15% of an attributed order if your shop has always made under $10,000 USD in any 365 days, or 12% once it has made $10,000 or more. It's capped at $100 USD per order. UK sellers without a VAT ID also pay 20% VAT on it.

Can UK sellers opt out of Etsy Offsite Ads?

Yes, if your shop has never made $10,000 USD or more in any 365-day period: Shop Manager → Settings → Offsite Ads → Opt out. Above that, Etsy's Help page says participation is required for the lifetime of the shop.

Is the Offsite Ads fee charged on postage?

Etsy says the fee is charged on the amount you made from the sale before the advertising fee, and elsewhere on the order total. In practice, treat it as a percentage of item plus postage, as this site's calculator does.

Why was I charged Offsite Ads fees on two orders from one click?

A single ad click can lead to several attributed orders. Any order from that buyer at your shop within 30 days of the click can carry the fee.
