How to read an Etsy monthly statement CSV (UK)
Last checked 13 Oct 2026. Items marked date-sensitive can change; follow the source links before relying on them.
Where to download the file, what each column and Type means, how to total sales, fees and net without double-counting deposits, and a free browser tool that does the totals for you.
Skip the spreadsheet slog: the free Etsy monthly statement CSV summary totals sales, each fee type, VAT on fees, ads and net by month in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
What the monthly statement CSV is
Etsy's monthly statement is the ledger for one month of your Payment account: every sale, fee, refund, postage label, ad charge, VAT row and bank deposit, one row each. Etsy itself points sellers at this CSV when they ask how to work out their fees (Etsy Help: How to manage your Payment account).
It is not the same as the Orders CSV (which is order-by-order fulfilment data) or the listing export. For fees, net and tax prep, use the monthly statement.
How to download it date-sensitive
- Open Shop Manager.
- Go to Finances → Monthly statements (or Payment account → View all monthly statements).
- Pick the month → Generate CSV.
- Etsy builds the file and often emails a download link when it's ready; it isn't always instant.
Download several months if you want a year view. Keep the raw files; your accountant may want them as well as any summary.
The columns, one by one
Published descriptions of the UK statement (and the sample format this site's tool was built against) use these columns. Etsy can change the export, so treat this as a map, not a guarantee.
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Date | When the row hit your Payment account (often US Eastern time). A sale near midnight on the last day of a month can land in a different calendar month from your UK bank statement. |
| Type | The row kind: Sale, Fee, Refund, Marketing, Shipping, VAT, Deposit, Payment, and similar. |
| Title | The human label. For fees this is where Etsy writes "Transaction fee: …", "Processing fee", "Listing fee (auto-renew sold)", "Regulatory operating fee", "Offsite Ads fee", and so on. |
| Info | Usually an order or listing number you can match back to Shop Manager. |
| Currency | e.g. GBP. If a file mixes currencies, totals in one currency are misleading. |
| Amount | The main money on the row (sales and refunds often live here; many fee rows show "--" here). |
| Fees & Taxes | Fee and tax amounts for that row (often negative for charges). |
| Net | What that row added to or took from your balance. This is the column to trust for "what actually moved". |
How to read the Type values
| Type (typical) | How to treat it |
|---|---|
| Sale | Gross money from the buyer for that order (item + postage charged). This is sales, not profit. |
| Fee | An Etsy seller fee. Use the Title to see which one (transaction, processing, listing, regulatory, and so on). |
| Refund | Money returned to a buyer. Fee credits for the same order often appear as separate Fee rows with a positive amount. |
| Marketing | Offsite Ads, Etsy Ads, and similar ad spend. Optional subscriptions sometimes appear nearby or as their own type. |
| Shipping | Postage labels you bought through Etsy (not the postage you charged the buyer). |
| VAT | For UK sellers without a VAT ID on Etsy, this is usually VAT Etsy charged on its own seller fees. That is different from VAT Etsy collected from buyers on digital items. See the Etsy VAT guide. |
| Deposit / Payment | Etsy moving money you already earned to your bank (or charging your card). Counting these again with sales would double-count. |
A worked walkthrough (made-up sample month)
Figures below match the fictional sample CSV on the statement summary tool (not a real shop). They show the shape of a real month.
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Several Sale rows (£6.00, £21.20, £27.95, £43.50…) | Gross sales before Etsy's cut. |
| After each sale, Fee rows for transaction, processing, regulatory and listing | The per-sale fees from Etsy UK fees explained. |
| A Marketing row titled "Offsite Ads fee" | That order was attributed to Offsite Ads. See Offsite Ads fees. |
| A Shipping row for a Royal Mail postage label | You bought the label through Etsy; the cost left your Payment account. |
| A Refund plus Fee credits | Buyer refunded; some fees credited back. |
| A VAT row "VAT: seller fees (September 2026)" | Monthly VAT on Etsy's fees for a seller with no VAT ID. |
| A Deposit row "£60.00 sent to your bank account" | A payout. Compare deposits over several months with net, not with one month's sales alone. |
Three useful totals (and one trap)
- Sales (gross) — sum of Sale row Amounts.
- Etsy fees incl. VAT — Fee rows plus VAT-on-fees rows. Marketing (ads, subscriptions) is worth tracking separately so you can see selling fees vs advertising.
- Net from Etsy — sum of the Net column, excluding Deposit and Payment rows. That is what Etsy left you after its fees, labels and ads, before your own materials and postage bought elsewhere.
Trap: a deposit is not "profit for that day". It is a transfer of a balance that already includes earlier sales and fees. "Net from Etsy" is also not your profit until you subtract your own costs.
Fast path vs spreadsheet
- Fast: drop one or more monthly CSVs into the Etsy statement CSV summary. It groups by month, splits fees by Title, and lets you add optional other costs for a rough profit figure. The file stays on your computer.
- Manual: open the CSV in a spreadsheet, filter by Type, and pivot Title for Fee rows. Same maths; more clicks.

FAQ
Where do I download my Etsy monthly statement CSV?
Shop Manager → Finances → Monthly statements → choose the month → Generate CSV. Etsy may email a link when the file is ready.
What is the difference between the Etsy monthly statement and the Orders CSV?
The monthly statement is your Payment account ledger (sales, fees, refunds, deposits). The Orders CSV is order and fulfilment data. For fee and net totals, use the monthly statement.
Why doesn't my Etsy deposit match my sales?
Deposits pay out your balance after fees, refunds, labels and ads, on Etsy's deposit schedule. A deposit can include sales from the previous month. Compare net over several months with deposits, not one sale total with one deposit.
Is Net from Etsy my profit?
No. It is what Etsy leaves you after its fees, ads and labels. Subtract your own costs (materials, packaging, postage bought outside Etsy) for profit. It is not tax advice.
What is the VAT row on my statement?
For many UK sellers without a VAT ID on Etsy, it is 20% VAT charged on Etsy's seller fees. That is separate from VAT Etsy collects from buyers on digital items.
